PB Sweater Pillows

I think all of us have, at one time or another, drooled over the Pottery Barn Sweater Knit Pillow.
This Fall, I decided I HAD to have one.

My Version



All three pillows cost me a grand total of $14.
Sweater #1 - $5
Sweater #2 - $4
Sweater #2 - $3
Pillow Insert (found at the thrift store!) - $2
I already had the other 2 pillow inserts.

Although Pottery Barn does have far (FAR) superior picture-taking abilities than I do, I'm very pleased with my sweater pillows.

    Yours look every bit a pretty as PB. Did you use a machine I'm assuming? I'd like to try this, but don't know whether I need a special needle or something.

    Answers:
    I found the sweaters at my local thrift store - the only one we have where I live (in Utah) is owned and operated by the LDS church. It's called Deseret Industries. Most of their sweaters are $5, some are $4 or $3 (if they are smaller sizes or have been around for a while!)
    I washed them and dried them first, so the weave would be smaller.
    I sewed three sides (though on one I only had to sew one side because my pillow form fit inside almost perfectly!) with my sewing machine - using the regular needle. I left the fourth side completely open to insert the pillow form.
    Then I hand sewed the fourth side closed. The sweater just eats up the thread so you can't even find it!
