Laundry Room Makeover

And some detail pics :)

My counter top is made from melamine - you know, that white plastic coated MDF? My counter area was WAY deeper than standard counters come, so we had to figure something else out. Melamine worked out really well and was very cost-effective! The giant sheet we bought did my big counter top (66x35) and 2 shelves in my closet (41x18) with some left over - and cost only $25! I added a strip of pretty molding ($9) to the edge and painted the whole thing the same white that I painted the board and batten
The room is so pretty I want to squeal every time I walk by!

Thanks to everyone who gave suggestions to my decorating dilemma post!  I used a lot of them :)

What a great laundry room! My laundry room is in a 1940's cobweb filled basement that sometimes floods. I would love to have a laundry room like this. Love the chocolate brown color. Well done.

LOVE what you did! It looks so great. I have a teeny tiny laundry room with no hopes of it ever looking as good as yours. I'm jealous, I admit it.
Thanks for sharing anyway! :)

Wow! It doesn't even look like the same room. I love the idea of a nice deep shelf over the washer and dryer. What a beautiful room!

You did a great job. I love that room and love the brown and white together! I'm sure now that the room is so beautiful...that socks won't get lost, clothes will fold...miraculously...that the kids will WANT to help mommy fold and match their socks! I just know it! Big smile.
Beautiful room!

It looks so awesome! Aren't you so glad you did it! The brown is great. I have tried it before but I always get it wrong. Such a cute little sign on the top too!

Great job on your room! I like that you didn't keep the washer and dryer stacked- love the counter top across- I saw in an older country living magazine where they made a sweet curtain to even hide the appliances- mine need hidden- they are ancient!

What a fantastic makeover!!! I so envy your counter top, this is exactly what I envision for my laundry room. I can't believe how inexpensive it was, it looks very high end! The walls are gorgeous too.
Great job!

Love your makeover. the board and batten really give that room character and that chocolate color on the wall gives it a lot of contrast. Love the sign on the counter there. So true in our home. We have stackables too and right now they are stacked cause we have a fridge next to them, but i would like to put them side by side to have a counter to fold on.

Very nice! I need to do something with mine because it is in the area where everyone comes in the house. Mud room, laundry and entrance way all in one. You did a great job. Thanks for stopping by my site and leaving a comment.

Oooo Nice! Great job on the use of space! I, on the other hand would just like a washer and dryer that isn't from 1974! :)

Way to go, girl! I'm proud of you for deciding that you wanted a change, asking for help at the Decorating Dilemmas Party, and then going for it! This looks WONDERFUL. The board and batten are great, and the brown is marvelous. That was a stroke of genius--looks great against the crisp white. Congratulations!!

You did a wonderful job on your laundry room. A few questions: 1) did you cut the board or did you have the hardware store do it for you? 2) Where did you get that lovely Laundry sign?

Amber said...

It looks like a totally different room! Love the old window you hung on the wall and the trim detail you added to the counter.

Jennifer {Studio JRU} said...

The room looks amazing! I have wanted to do something similar in my laundry room. I have a question for you, did you mount the counter top, or did you just lay it on top of the washer/dryer?? Thanks!
